The end of December we highlighted the Boston Agencies selected by MediaPost in their annual OMMA Awards, honored just yesterday at the publication’s annual OMMA Global Conference & Expo in San Fran. OMMA Magazine is the only trade publication that focuses on online media, marketing and advertising. At the event yesterday, the publication also announced winners of a new category in their awards: the Appy Awards, which honors extraordinary applications (both mobile and web-based).

Among the mix of winners includes Boston-based Goby, makers of the local search engine that helps you find things to do locally or when traveling in new places. Goby fell into the Mapping/Location-Based app category, competing against Cab Finder and AAA’s TripTik apps. Congrats to Goby on the win!

Here are the bylines of judges involved in the 2011 Appy Awards jury (including Mullen’s mobile evangelist here in Boston, Brenna Hanly):

  • Michael Becker, Managing Director, North America, Mobile Marketing Association
  • Rick Gardinier, SVP, Chief Digital Officer, BRUNNER
  • Brenna Hanly, Mullen
  • Thom Kennon, VP Digital, Wunderman
  • Ujjal Kohli, CEO, Rhythm NewMedia Inc.
  • Chuck Martin, Director, Center for Media Research
  • Rebecca McPheters, President, McPheters & Company
