Meet our Boston Bombshell Steffanie Merloni, wife of Lou Merloni from WEEI’s MFB.

1. How does it feel to be considered a bombshell? I feel extremely honored, a bit awkward and incredibly flattered at the same time.

2. How does a bombshell like yourself typically spend her day? I typically spend my day playing baseball, hockey, & football, negotiating, debating, manipulating, explaining everything, and running around like a crazed person. (I have a 4 year old son)

When Mason is at school I spend my time networking, doing outreach and securing donations, hosting drives and gathering items for Room To Grow, (I am on the Boston Advisory Board for the organization) doing projects/renovations in our yard or home, and working as an independent stylist for Stella & Dot. I also try to work out and go for walks, try being the operative word!

 3. Why did you decide to join the other bombshells and help out the Ellie Fund? Because I was asked! It’s an honor to be asked to help out an organization like the Ellie Fund! They do so much to help the women, men, and families battling this disease.

There are no words to describe how awful cancer is and raising awareness is the 1st step in helping to save lives, especially your own when it comes to breast cancer.

And ironically it came on the heels of a conversation with a very dear friend who had a “scare” a while back with some irregularities. She is fine and healthy thankfully, but recently she was giving me a hard time because I hadn’t had a mammogram in quite some time. I gave her all my excuses why I hadn’t and didn’t want to go back, and she reminded me of the reasons I needed to. Being asked was the extra push to go and do it! It would be very hypocritical of me to preach and not practice.

4. Who is your favorite bombshell of all time and why? The word “bombshell” to me is way beyond the physical ideal. It’s about something inside that shows on the outside, it’s intangible, a look in a person’s eye and the energy about them. It’s something intoxicating, making you want to be around them without quite being able to put a finger on the reason you can’t get enough.

It’s these for reasons and more I chose Marilyn Monroe.

Physically, Marilyn definitely defined and set the bar for the word “bombshell”.

She was a physical knockout, smokin’ hot while maintaining a sense of class and innocence. People could not get enough of her, she was intriguing, a bit of a mystery, yet very open with her feelings, wants and desires.

She was strong yet emotional. Not afraid to be a woman and expected to be treated as such. I admire her strong sense of self and loved the almost childlike innocence.

“I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, i am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best.” ? Marilyn Monroe

But above all this what I love even more, was her desire to help others. Both animals and humans, she was very giving and always helping anyway she could. Even when she didn’t have a lot of money, she still was very generous with what she did have as well as donating a lot of her time.

I truly admire that her desire to help was never self-serving. This is probably one of the reasons it’s not well known how much she gave back.

I admire her ability to have been so big in the public eye but maintain a sense of being “small”.
