What do an MIT professor and Miley Cyrus have in common?

Not much (we don’t think) except an apparent affinity for wistfully swinging around, wrecking ball-style. Yes, MIT professor Walter Lewin is depicted below swinging back and forth on his very own quasi wrecking ball while teaching a class. And, in true tech-savvy fashion, it was posted to the internet alongside pop sensation Miley Cyrus. Because what else are us plebeians supposed to do with such a thing?

The MIT professor with a Ph.D in nuclear physics, now is his late-70s, is already well known for his famous such physics demonstrations. Professor Lewin’s videotaped physics lectures have even been featured in the New York Times, including the one in this video of him swinging from a “30-pound steel ball attached to a pendulum hanging from the ceiling.”

We have just one question, and one question only: Is that a banana on his chest, or …. ?
