Over the weekend, famed bridal designer Monique Lhuillier debuted a custom gown that satisfied both “something old” and “something new” – but don’t expect to see it in the pages of PEOPLE with her many other celebrity creations. This gown was personal, a stunning number made for her own mother to wear during her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.

The extravagant gown featured lace from her mother’s original wedding dress, along with a beaded antique-gold overlay (appropriate considering this is the golden anniversary after all). The designer dutifully captured the vow renewal on Instagram, including the long train and bejeweled hairpiece that accessorized the dress. But the best post of all? A picture of her gorgeous mother from 50 years earlier.
