The latest creations from Motorola, the Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD, finally have a debut date. Announced yesterday, the Razr HD and Razr Maxx HD release date is set for October 18. The two staple smartphones in Motorola’s ( acquired by Google) arsenal were previously announced back in September along with the Razr M, which was released that day.

Set to be released on Verizon’s 4G LTE network, the Razr HD and Maxx HD are basically identical. As the latter’s moniker suggests though, the Maxx HD will feature a more potent battery and more robust internal storage.

The 4.7-inch devices with HD AMOLED screens will run on the Android 4.0 OS. They will also both contain 1.5GHz dual-core processors and 1GB of RAM apiece. Though the Ice Cream Sandwich is now overshadowed by the smoother Jelly Bean (4.1), buyers of the Razr HD and Maxx HD have been promised an upgrade. The Razr HD will go for a contracted price of $199.99.

For $299.99, buyers of the Maxx HD will get a longer battery life and more storage. 20 full hours of call time will stem from a profuse 3,300mAh battery. The Razr HD will contain 16GB of internal storage while the Maxx HD will boast 32GB. Both smartphones come equipped with NFC capabilities and the popularized kevlar fiber back casing.

NFC capability is a significant feature in the smartphones of today. Phones by Samsung, Microsoft, Blackberry, and HTC all (or will in the near future) sport the mobile-to-mobile feature, but interestingly enough it was left out the perhaps more popular iPhone 5.

How do you all think Motorola’s net gadgets will stack up against its rivals? Was the iPhone 5 severely over-hyped? Do you remember when the Razr was (arguably) the most popular flip phone back when it debuted in 2004? Let us know your thoughts, comments, hopes, and dreams in the comments section below.
