Well, we knew MySpace was a sinking ship, and the latest traffic numbers from analysts comScore reveal just how quickly: at a rate of 10 million unique visitors a month. The social networking site saw a drop from 73 million to 63 million (14.4%) between January and February. On top of this, the site realizes half the traffic it was enjoying a year ago.

MySpace and parent company News Corp (which bought the social network in 2005 for $580 million) have been trying to sell the company since the end of 2010 / start of 2011. In fact, rumors surfaced not long ago that Boston-based mobile social network MocoSpace was looking to buy the company.

A person with knowledge of the sale and traffic drop told TechCrunch: “It’s like slowing down at the scene of an accident. Everyone wants to take a look at how bad things have become.”
