Last night the 2013 NBA draft took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, home of the Brooklyn Nets. While many were expecting the Cleveland Cavaliers to choose University of Kentucky center and Everett, MA native Nerlens Noel with the first overall pick, they opted instead for Anthony Bennett, power forward from UNLV. Keep in mind, these aren’t the finalized picks. A few teams wheeled and dealed, trading their picks for more lucrative opportunities. After sliding from the projected number 1 spot, Nerlens Noel was dealt from the New Orleans Pelicans to the Philadelphia 76ers for a first round pick and Jrue Holiday. The Minnesota Timberwolves picked Trey Burke only to trade him to Utah for Shabazz Muhammad and Gorgui Dieng. The T-Wolves also sent Andre Roberson packing to Golden State, who then sent him to Oklahoma City. The Dallas Mavericks selected Kelly Olynyk but he’ll be wearing green after being shipped up to Boston in a three-way deal that sends Celtics pick Lucas Nogueira to Atlanta, and Hawks’ pick Shane Larkin to Dallas. Golden State ended up with Phoenix’s No. 30 pick and took Nemanja Nedovi? home to California.
