The Miami Heat forced an NBA Finals game 7 last night after a thrilling overtime victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Miami’s American Airlines Center. LeBron James posted a triple-double and Ray Allen proved why he’s the greatest three point shooter of all time as the Heat made a stunning fourth quarter rally to win in OT 103-100.  Miami is 7-0 this post season after a loss.

Tim Duncan and the Spurs hit the hardwood running last night taking a 50-44 lead into the second half but Miami showed plenty of life late in the game to pull out an eventual W. Duncan led the team from Texas going 13 for 21 from the floor with 30 points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds.

Miami mobilized behind LeBron James’s stellar fourth quarter play, as he dominated the stat line putting up 32 points, 10 snagging boards, and dishing out 11 assists. 16 of his 32 came in the fourth quarter, showing just how much James can elevate his game through sheer will.

Ray Allen looked like his old Celtic self, hitting his only three pointer of the game to tie it up at 95 apiece with 5 seconds left in the fifth. In game 5, Allen’s record for most threes in a playoff series was bested by Danny Green though Allen icily responded with his late-game tying trey bomb.

Expecting Green to take the possibly game-winning overtime three pointer, Chris Bosh had him covered, opting to block the shot and seal the victory instead of blatantly and embarrassingly flopping ŕ la game 4.

Game 7 will take place in Miami on Thursday, June 20 at 9pm ET with coverage  by ESPN and ABC.

Already having the makings of an instant classic, game 7 will bring out the best of both teams’ competitiveness. LeBron and company have already proven they can rally when necessary, though the fact that they even have to rally on the brink of elimination at home must have those in South Beach wondering if Miami has what it takes to vanquish San Antonio. The Spurs have already won twice in Dade County meaning they know how to do it again. If Miami wins, they’ll take home their second NBA championship in as many years though a San Antonio victory would give them their fifth good for fourth most all time right behind Chicago’s six.
