Location based discovery company WHERE acquired daily deal provider LocalGinger this past November. In an in depth interview with them earlier this year we learned just how close the company was to rolling out its version of daily deals. The company’s app and website already offers coupons, promotions, and discounts at locations around you, so daily deals are a natural extension of their service. This week those daily deals started to hit, with one launched Monday and one launched today.

WHERE NearBuys offer “up to 90% off the hottest places to eat, drink and play in your area.” The company is using its website, mobile app, ad network and a dedicated email list to distribute the deals. Within the WHERE mobile app, today’s deal, for example, is displayed as a mobile ad and there does not yet appear to be a dedicated carved out section within the app for NearBuys.

The first NearBuy rolled out under most people’s radars on Monday, offering $40 for half off cleaning services by Spotless Cleaning. The deal seemed to be a soft launch, with it selling out at just 45 purchases. This morning I received my first NearBuys email, signaling a more formal launch of the service (WHERE has been pushing email signups over the last few weeks for NearBuys). Today’s NearBuy offers $25 for $50 worth of food at Basho Japanese Brasserie in Boston.
