The Watertown man who found a bloodied Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on his boat, concealed beneath a tarp, in the yard of his Franklin Street home, was able to purchase a replacement, thanks to generous donations.

When David Henneberry peaked into “Slip Away” on April 19, he noticed the 20-year old Boston Marathon bombing suspect — the subject of a city, and nation-wide manhunt — seeking refuge — wounded from a standoff with police the night before that left his brother, Tamerlan, dead.

Hours after Tsarnaev was discovered, he emerged from the infamous boat and was placed in federal custody while millions watched the event unfold on TV.

Within days, money donations from across the country began pouring in to help fund a “Slip Away” replacement.

“It was actually taken by the FBI, but that’s another thing,” Henneberry told ABCNews.

“Beth Said Yes,” a 24-foot, $50,000 used-boat, was purchased by Henneberry and his wife –the boat’s namesake– two weeks ago, thanks to grateful strangers.

“That’s fitting, isn’t it?” said Henneberry. “We decided we’re just going to let ‘Slip Away’ slip away.”

A joint fundraising campaign between Facebook and Crowdtilt,”Let’s Fix David Henneberry’s Boat (That Got Ruined in the Boston Bomber’s Standoff),” raised $50,597.50 before closing April 30, ABCNews reports.

Leftover money was donated to the One Fund, at the Henneberry’s request.
