Besides the see-through pants debacle, Lululemon can seemingly do no wrong. They’ve built an entire company on comfortable yet attractive workout apparel and have been able to market it to both males and females alike. Their clothes are breathable, functional and, most recently, transitional.

As someone who has worked in the fitness industry for some time, whether it’s frowned upon or not, my workout clothes have also been my ‘going out’ clothes. Lululemon leggings and all, I have met my friends for post-work cocktails. And now, this thriving company has just released a line dedicated to this exact purpose, and that speaks volumes about their innovative branding.

The line, called ‘&go,’ features tanks, pants, shorts and jackets. Their slogan, ‘function meets fashion,’ is exactly how this collection is supposed to be viewed. Gone are the days where wind pants and hoodies were acceptable post-workout, quick-run-to-the-grocery-store apparel. With these new options, the company is aiming to make your life easier one pair of spandex at a time. And while this attractive selection of workout garments makes sense in theory, I wonder who wants to stay in sweaty (and possibly stinky) gym clothes while sipping on brewskis with friends?

According to Boston Lululemon Ambassador, Cara Gilman, “Lululemon is one of the few brands that can pull off clothing that is both functional and flattering. The clothes are comfortable, great to sweat in and form fitting, yet after I work-out in them I don’t want to run out of class and hide. With some brands I have worn, after a work-out they can get loose, you can have those embarrassing sweat marks and you can feel like you’re swimming in your sweat. ”

Regardless of the technicalities, Lululemon is encouraging you to embrace comfort while still looking ravishing post-sweat sesh. The bottom line being: the clothes are adorable, semi-functional and completely in style. From peplum to pleather, you too can rock your downward dog and then go enjoy a Dogfish Head at your local pub. Just consider bringing some body spray or deodorant – while you’ll be sporting a post-workout glow, nobody wants a smelly exerciser stinking up the whole bar.
