Some of the biggest names in music will be joining forces right here in Boston for a benefit concert to support Boston Marathon bombing victims. On Friday, Live Nation announced “Boston Strong: An Evening of Support and Celebration” benefiting The One Fund. The show will feature renowned artists including Aerosmith, Jason Aldean, Boston, Jimmy Buffett, Extreme, J Geils Band, Godsmack, Carole King, New Kids On The Block, James Taylor, and comedians Dane Cook and Steven Wright.

The show is scheduled to take place at the TD Garden on Thursday, May 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster.com or at the Garden box office.

Many of the acts are from Boston or have strong local ties.

At a press conference on Friday, Jared Paul, manager for the New Kids on the Block, spoke about how his clients wanted to organize an event to help support victims, asking “What can we do to help?”

Donnie Wahlberg took the podium, wearing a Boston Red Sox hat, saying of the bombing, “This event affected all of us to the core.” He spoke of how fellow artists felt compelled to “take care of the victims,” calling the concert’s lineup “world class.”

“Boston is going to f*cking rock that night,” Wahlberg added.

New Kids on the Block Member Joey McIntyre finished the 2013 Boston Marathon just minutes before the first bomb went off. He was running to raise money for Alzheimer’s Disease research.

Massachusetts native James Taylor paid tribute to fallen MIT police officer Sean Collier at a memorial service last week, singing heartfelt renditiosn of two songs: “Shower The People” and “The Water is Wide.” You can view his performance in the video below.

Ken Oringer and Ming Tsai, who are hosting the Boston Bites Back benefit at Fenway Park on May 15, will be serving food backstage at the Boston Strong benefit concert on May 30.

“It’s not about just the money; it’s about bringing Bostonians together,” Tsai said at Friday’s press conferece.

The One Fund has raised more than $28 million to date.
