Back in March, an international trailer for The Wolverine surfaced and excited the web in similar fashion. Keep in mind that this film is set to follow up the X-Men franchise, taking place several years after X-Men: The Last Stand not X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which may cause a bit of confusion if you’re not familiar with the series.

The Wolverine, with a reported budget of $100 million, will look to build on the success of the chronological X-Men series as well as the X-Men Origin spinoff. The revamped series began back in 2000 with X-Men and garnered a worldwide gross $296,339,528 while setting the stage for a run on comic book-based film franchises from two Spiderman series to ensemble cast movies like The Avengers–one of the highest grossing films of all time.

At the helm will be James Mangold directing, whose portfolio includes acclaimed movies like Girl, Interrupted and Walk the Line, both of which won Academy Awards.  Mangold is no stranger to directing action flicks (3:10 to Yuma) but in all of the 13 titles he’s credited with directing, none of have boasted a budget as large as this so it’ll be interesting to see where Mangold went with the eye-popping special effects.

Keep checking back with BostInno for the latest about The Wolverine but in the meantime, let’s talk about the trailer. What do you all think? Does this do justice to the highly successful comic book franchise?
