Today, cast and crew were on hand to release the new The Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer at Comic-Con 2013. Set to be released on November 22, 2013, the movie starring Jennifer Lawrence will look to pick up where the first blockbuster left off as the second installment of the three-book-strong franchise.

According to movie aggregator website IMDB,

“Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a ‘Victor’s Tour’ of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.”

Check out the new trailer of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire released at Comic Con:

Based on the trio of novels by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games became one of the more popular book series and feature film in recent memory. Shot with a total budget of $130 million, The Hunger Games made it all back on the opening weekend with $152 million and has since grossed $686,533,290 worldwide to date.

Interestingly, Gary Ross (Seabiscuit) declined to direct the sequel but a worthy replacement in Francis Lawrence–no relation to Katniss Everdeen portrayer Jennifer Lawrence–who’s helmed such movies as I Am Legend and will take on parts one and two of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.
