Seth Meyers has some big shoes to fill. Tonight, the former SNL comedian will officially step up to fill Jimmy Fallon’s recently vacated spot on NBC’s Late Night.

The question on everyone’s mind is, of course: Will he be able to make us laugh as well as his predecessors?

Following acts like David Letterman, Conan O’Brien and most recently Jimmy Fallon may be a challenge, but Meyers’ colleagues have faith in his comedic abilities.

“Seth is ready for this. He has the poise and the breadth,” Lorne Michaels, the executive producer of both SNL and Late Night, told the New York Times. Michaels originally hired Meyers for SNL and decided to place him in Late Night when Fallon moved on to The Tonight Show, premiering on NBC last Monday night.

Tonight’s guests will feature Amy Poehler, Vice President Joe Biden and musical guest A Great Big World, according to the show’s official website. The rest of the week’s lineup also sounds promising:

Tuesday: Kanye West, Russell Wilson and writer Robyn Doolittle

Wednesday: Kelly Ripa and Brad Paisley

Thursday: Lena Dunham, Anthony Mackie and the John Mayer Trio

Friday: Ian McKellen & Patrick Stewart, Sophia Bush and Michael Che

With a new host inevitably comes a new style, but one thing’s for sure – if Meyers is as good a host as he was SNL cast member and head writer, we are sure to be entertained. It doesn’t hurt that his house band will be fronted by fellow SNL alum Fred Armisen, either. SNL‘s current cast members, however, will miss Meyers – see their heartfelt goodbye here.

Tune in to NBC tonight at 12:35 a.m. to catch Meyer’s first performance, and see what he has to say about his new gig below:
