It’s no secret that the lifestyles of the rich and famous aren’t always the most humble. Multiple homes. 10-carat engagement rings. Chrome-covered cars. But $2 million shoes? That’s where the line should be drawn. Not so for Nick Cannon, the host of America’s Got Talent, who is gaining a lot of attention for the diamond-encrusted loafers he sported on Tuesday night’s finale.

According to Justin Fenner, associate online style editor at details.com, the shoes are the work of Jacob the Jeweler of Beverly Hills. “Over 14,000 round white diamonds – roughly 340 carats – were set into white gold and then affixed to the shoes,” Justin says. “The entire process took nearly a year to complete.”

Let’s ignore the fact that there are plenty of more important things one can do with $2 million, like, say, feed a family of four for 133 years. Nick’s showstopping shoes are currently with the Guinness Book of World Records for consideration as the most expensive shoes in the world.

Wow. How about a nice pair of leather loafers instead? This pair by Cole Haan is timeless, can be dressed up or down, and won’t scream “Post-Divorce Midlife Crisis” while you’re walking down the street. Promise.
