Richard Donohue, the transit police officer who survived a shooting with the Tsarnaev brothers, is being discharged from the hospital this morning. Donohue has been recovering at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital but still has a bullet in his body and is coping with a repaired femoral artery.

The 33-year-old will be escorted home by other MBTA officers. He has said that he’s most excited to return home to spend time with his son and to play catch with the family dog. Also, he has said that he wants to return to his job as a transit police officer and that he can’t remember the gun battle that left him with nerve damage, making it painful to walk.
