There’s no denying that Boston is chock-full of busy people who simply don’t have the time to cook or treat themselves to a fancy schmancy meal every night. But while there are plenty of online food delivery services available in the Hub, it’s nearly impossible to find a service that delivers food from upscale eateries around town – or one where you can actually see the food before ordering it.
Fortunately, a new kind of food delivery service has launched in Boston and it’s catering to your sophisticated palate. According to a release, Caviar, a new online food delivery service, will deliver the “best-tasting and highest-quality” food from local, high-end restaurants right to your doorstep for free.
The highly selective delivery service chooses restaurants “that meet the uncompromising standards of the Caviar tastemakers,” notes a source. Apparently, all restaurants on Caviar’s website must earn at least a four-star Yelp rating to even be considered for delivery. This means you don’t have to be picky when ordering from Caviar – they’ve already determined which food is worth ordering.
Caviar CEO Jason Wang tells BostInno that he developed the idea for the startup when he lived in San Francisco. “We found that many of our favorite restaurants were not close by. We started paying a courier $10 to pick up and deliver our food to our office. Then we thought, if we’re willing to pay $10, maybe other people would be too.”
The company, which already proved profitable in the first three months of business, is now projecting a 200 percent annual revenue increase in 2014 and is in the process of expanding to various U.S. cities.
Now that the upscale food delivery service is available in Boston, customers can order meals from a handful of Boston’s best restaurants including Orinoco, El Pelon, Stephi’s on Tremont, Regina Pizza, Trident Booksellers, and more.
And that list of restaurants is only growing. Wang tells BostInno that “Caviar is adding one to two new top restaurants each week… moving forward, Bostonians will continue to have even more of only the best local restaurant choices.”
Customers can also see what they’re ordering before it arrives at their doorstep. Caviar provides resolution photos of each and every dish the company delivers.
