We all love a flirty holiday dress (or two), but to really stand out this season, I’m test-driving tuxedo suit dressing.

Back in 1966, Yves Saint Laurent caused a stir when he introduced the world to Le Smoking – a masculine spin on the little black dress in the form of a sharp wool-and-satin tuxedo made exclusively for women. Not just reserved for black-tie dressing, Le Smoking pioneered the pantsuits and power suits of today. “He put trousers into a women’s wardrobe and made our lives easier,” muses pal Paloma Picasso.

The key to pulling off the tuxedo look for the holiday season? Accessories. Offset the menswear-inspired suit with sexy and feminine pieces, like a sparkly minaudičre clutch, sky-high stilettos, dangly earrings, and, of course, a bold red lip.
