London, Milan, and Paris have concluded their Fall/Winter 2014 menswear shows – and there are a few things I am excited about. And a few I’m not so sure about, too. Here’s a look at both.

The Trends to Watch 
One returning trend, which I’m loving, is tone on tone. It was all over Calvin Klein, Jil Sander, and Ermenegildo Zegna. Lots of layers and shapes. Lots of different textures. Olive on olive. Black on black. Charcoal on charcoal. Ochre on ochre. Besides that, I can see MSGM inspiring a lot of non-tailored trends and silhouettes for the fall and winter. Toggle coats, hints of camo, and the varsity jacket seem like they will all be sticking around. We will see what NYFW says.

Also, don’t miss John Varvatos’s KISS-inspired show – a little theatrical, a little rock ‘n’ roll. And just for fun, be sure to check out the hair styles in the Vivienne Westwood and James Long shows.

The Not-so-Favorites 
Oversized everything. I don’t expect this to catch on just yet. America is still in love with tailored-to-perfection looks. But you’ll see that pants, coats, and sweaters all have extra room – and then some. Check out E. Tautz. Another trend I don’t find compelling is hyper-shortened hemlines, as seen in Pringle of Scotland.
