It’s difficult to imagine the design genius behind two of the most innovative fashion houses falling behind where trends are concerned. Well, I’m here to inform you that the impossible has happened. Between Palazzo Versace in Australia and Armani Hotel Dubai, hotels designed by fashion bigwigs is hardly a new idea. But, as of earlier this month, Karl Lagerfeld has agreed to follow in his peers’ footsteps. That’s right – the Karl Lagerfeld Hotel, a 270-room, 20-story high-rise, is set to open in Macau, China in 2017.

However so-last-year the concept may be, we can be sure to expect one-of-a-kind Lagerfeld-level luxury through and through. When asked about his new feat, the German designer quoted his house’s namesake: “You know, Gabrielle Chanel always said, ’I only make dresses I would wear.’ And I make only rooms where I would like to sleep. It’s as simple as that.”

The Lagerfeld Hotel will be part of a larger complex complete with restaurants and casinos. The only unanswered question? When can we make reservations?
