Boston city councilors put politics on hold Wednesday afternoon, when they reportedly decided to take a break during a weekly meeting to watch the New England Patriots ride duck boats.
Councilors were scheduled to meet at 12 p.m. in the Iannella Chamber, on the fifth floor of City Hall. As the Pats rolling rally approached Government Center, the final stop along Wednesday’s parade route, Universal Hub tweeted:
City Council calls 30-min. recess in regularly scheduled meeting so councilors can watch the Patriots parade #bospoli

State House News reporter Gintautas Dumcius also chimed in on Twitter.
You can get your Pats fanhood and civic engagement on in one go, c'mon #bospoli

With the Pats parade literally on City Hall’s doorstep, the councilor’s recess seems understandable. But some didn’t find it amusing.
@mimileaux Some might watch from the council's rarely used balcony – Linehan had to warn people opening the door would set off an alarm

@CoreyJ_Allen @universalhub City Councilors participate in social media like this w/ how proud they are than the more substantive! #BosPoli
