-The healthcare world is changing and pharmaceutical companies need to evolve into delivering services that go beyond the treatment drug. PMLiVE’s Delivering ‘Beyond the Pill’ demonstrates the need for patient adherence and how it can help in creating long-term partnerships, improving health outcomes and enhancing doctor-patient relations.  

-Pfizer has begun using Pfizerline, digital drug representatives to market medicine. Pharmafile’s Pfizer Begins Using ‘Digital’ Reps tells us the decision as to whether doctors see the reps is now literally in the doctors’ hands. 

-According to the Medical Market Forecasts issued by Espicom, the pharmaceutical industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.1% per annum for the next few years. Daily Finance’s article, Why This Big Pharma is a Health Care Industry Star, highlights the major portion of this growth is expected to come from emerging markets.  

-Due to high competition within the market as well as the declining economy, there is a need for convergence in Pharma. Importance of Convergence in the Pharmaceutical Market by News-Medical illustrates that the migratoin of prescription drugs to OTC status and the emerging markets for veterinary therapeutics, cosmeceuticals and nutraceuticals present viable opportunities.
