Founded out of MIT in 2008 and with a big pivot to focus on strictly businesses in 2009, Pixability is a Cambridge-based startup on a mission to revolutionize how businesses create high quality videos. The startup just landed $1 million from a group of 9 different Angels and Angel groups throughout New England including: Maine Angels, the eCoast Angel Network (NH), North Country Angels (VT), Boston Harbor Angels and Launchpad Angel Group (both in Boston).

Businesses approach Pixability looking to add videos to their websites, and Pixability does the editing and image integration (logos, PowerPoint slides, photos, etc.).

How exactly does the process work? Pixability sends the organization a flip camera and asks them to record 30 minutes of “raw footage.” After uploading the footage to the Pixability platform, the footage is edited by a network of several dozen freelance editors (not Pixability staff), and within 2 weeks the company has a finalized video.

Pricing ranges from $99 a month to $599 a month, and Pixability also offers video marketing from $39 a month to $99 a month.

Pixability is located in Kendall Square, and recently put out a video of their own explaining why the location “is the future”:
