If you’re in the city for the next few weeks, don’t be alarmed if you see some of your favorite Pixar film characters around.

This upcoming Sunday, June 28, The Museum of Science’s newest exhibit, developed by the Museum in partnership with Pixar Animation Studios, opens to the public. The Science Behind Pixar is debuting in Boston and will be here until Jan. 10 when it hits the road to travel the country for the next five years.

The interactive exhibition will offer a first-time look into the Pixar process of filmmaking and will explore the science and technology behind the most beloved animated films and characters. Using 10,000 square feet, The Museum of Science has designed theme sets that will allow visitors to feel that they are immersed in the worlds of the movies. Visitors will have the chance to engage in over 30 physical and computer-based interactives involving modeling, sets and cameras, lighting, animation, simulation and more.

The Museum of Science, in collaboration with longtime agency of record Allen & Gerritsen, will be using a few promising tactics to bring fans of all ages into the exhibit. Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, as well as Sully from Monsters, Inc., will be standing on taxis throughout the city. Mike (also from Monsters, Inc.), Sully, Woody, and Buzz will be there to make your commute on MBTA buses a little more bearable. Buzz will be flying above the Mass Pike on the Museum of Science billboard near the Newton exit.
