Boston is already home to several Pret A Manger cafes (make that three) but as of this week, our city will also be home to the largest Pret A Manger in the country. The fourth Boston-area Pret A Manger addition opens this Friday, June 20 in Boston’s Downtown Crossing neighborhood.

But of course, not without an official “Guinea Pig Day” for all of their local customers. Starting this morning, Bostonians can stop by the Pret A Manger shop to receive a voucher for a free lunch. Boston diners can use their voucher when they return between noon and 2 p.m. today.

For those who work in the Downtown Crossing neighborhood and Financial District, this free lunch should be music to your ears.

An official source tells us that this particular Pret A Manger includes 5,335 square feet of space, multiple floors with seating to accommodate over 100 customers. This Pret A Manger cafe is different from the others in that it also includes lounge areas as well as a meeting room.

Earlier this year, Banker & Tradesman reported that the sandwich cafe chain was planning a major expansion throughout the Hub. According to the article, Pret A Manger was looking to “expand with at least a dozen cafes in Boston and Cambridge over the next four to five years.” We can only gather that this is the beginning of the major expansion process. Needless to say, we’re looking forward to seeing where Pret A Manger pops up next.

For now though – we’ll happily accept that free lunch.

If you go, the new Pret A Manger cafe is located at 101 Arch Street in Downtown Crossing on the corner of Arch St. and Summer St.
