Feeling like indulging in a warm cup of chili to offset the winter chills? Ned Devine’s has you covered.

The Faneuil Hall bar is hosting the 5th Annual Chili Cup this Thursday, February 20 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Event-goers will get to sample signature chili dishes from over twenty different Boston-area restaurants, enjoy giveaways from Corona (including summery Coronoritas), and listen to some live music from country singer Ryan Brooks Kelly.

A panel of local celebrity judges, including Amp 103.3’s  DJ Joe Breezy, host of Mix 104.1’s Karson and Kennedy morning show Kennedy Elsey, Hell’s Kitchen contestant and owner of Tremont 647 Andy Husbands and Boston Bruins legend and author Derek Sanderson will judge the contestants to determine who will go home with the coveted Chili Cup. Tickets will be $20, and proceeds will go to Community Work Services, a career service organization that helps adults seek employment.

Last year’s reigning chili champion Leo Asaro, the executive chef at Tico, told BostInno in an email that the best chilis feature premium ingredients, loving care, a variety of meats and spices, and patience to allow the “spices to bloom and the flavors to really develop.”

Asaro offered some advice for event goers as they set out to sample over twenty different chilis. “Drink water because it doesn’t mask or coat your palate like most drinks do,” said Asaro. “Portion control from the “get go.” After you’ve tasted a spoonful of twenty chilis, you can go back and enjoy more of your favorite chili, aka mine, and a frosty brew,” he added.

Some sound advice for those hoping to spice up their Thursday at the event.
