PlayStation 4 fans can rest easy now knowing the PS4 release date is set for November 15. Even better for the Sony faithful is that the dutiful DualShock 4 controller will come with color customizations in “Magma Red” and “Wave Blue,” according to tech blog Ubergizmo. No matter the color scheme, the controller will cost $59.99 which means that for no added charge users will be able to add that extra flare of color.

The entire PS4 console will make an attempt to revolutionize the way users engage with their platforms, namely in the realm of recognition and live feedback capabilities in direct competition with the Xbox One. The DualShock 4 will act as an extension of that, a wireless bridge connecting the user to the console and ingesting the user’s gameplay.

The controller boasts a touchpad, share button, lightbar and headphone jack. The lightbar syncs with a camera on the PS4 that allows the console to track the depth similar to the Wii. The grip and feel of the controller won’t be hindered by its incorporation of color, so users need not fret over clammy palms’ inability to clutch the DualShock 4 during the most crucial of gaming scenarios.

The six-axis motion sensing system will allow for the PS4 console to recognize the specific player with controller in hand, affording the active switching of player profiles between gamers by simply handing off the DualShock 4 to their friend.

The new button options include a Share button which affords the user the opportunity to stop, record, and share certain gaming aspects, maps, campaigns, etc. to their favorite social media platforms with the help of the Start and Select buttons.

The lightbar is able to convey critical messages to the user, for example if the DualShock 4 battery is running low using a variety of colors. Of course, the lightbar also corresponds to the motion-sensing camera necessary for personalized system recognition.

The hard dimensions measure out to 162mm x 52mm x 98mm (height x width x depth) and weighs in at an easily hand-held 210 grams–a tentative estimate by Sony themselves.

The specs look good and the PS4 is eagerly awaited, but how does it hold up to the Xbox One on paper? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
