In either a move out of  fear, jealousy, or confidence Sony tried to snag some of the Xbox One revel event limelight by tweeting the following message in a feeble attempt to hype its rival PlayStation 4 console by announce the PS4 release date.

Of course, the links in the tweet are to the PlayStation 4 teaser trailer released yesterday and to the Facebook event page for its E3 2013 press conference where Sony is expected to give its fans a bit more information on its next-generation gaming platform.

Microsoft’s Xbox One reveal event this afternoon was very well received and offered much more than the mere glimpse fans, techies, and gamers were all predicting. The Xbox One was unveiled in all its hardware glory, being presented at center-stage with demonstrations of its new cutting-edge features and impressive software.

As if to put Sony completely to shame, Microsoft also shared the stage with EA Sports, Activision, Steven Spielberg, and Roger Goodell to announce four new EA Sports games for the Xbox One, view screenshots and characters of Call of Duty: Ghosts, disclose a new television series based on the popular Halo game franchise, and to confirm a new partnership with the NFL.

As noted during our February coverage of Sony’s big PlayStation 4 event, ” ony did not unveil the PS4 price, images of the PS4 console, or an exact PS4 release date.” To be fair, Microsoft didn’t come anywhere near a pricing though it did peg a worldwide release for Xbox One later this year.

For those who tuned into the Xbox One event today, what do you think of the upcoming console? Do you think PlayStation 4 will be anywhere near the neighborhood quality Microsoft put on display this afternoon?
