The Red Sox have signed Pablo Sandoval to a five-year deal for close to $100 million, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

Sandoval, 28, has reportedly been on the Red Sox’s radar since the start of the offseason. The switch-hitting third baseman had a batting line of .279/.324/.415 in 157 games with the Giants last season, and hit .429 in the World Series. He is a career .344 postseason hitter.

News of the Sandoval acquisition comes less than 12 hours after news leaked that the Red Sox had agreed to a five-year, $90 million contract with Hanley Ramirez. With Sandoval now in the fold, it appears as if Ramirez could move to left field.

The Red Sox have reportedly been exploring the trade market for outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, who the club acquired in exchange for Jon Lester last season. Cespedes hit .269/.296/423 with five home runs in 213 plate appearances with the Red Sox in 2014. He is eligible to become a free agent next year.
