Fans of the wingless bird-slinging game Angry Birds can now save and play their same continuous gameplay anywhere at anytime. Rovio recently announced the new Account feature, which utilizes cloud solutions to enable cross-device syncing, on its blog.

Rovio also updated its FAQ page to include the new Account feature enlightening the public that Accounts is optional and all it takes to register is to verify one’s email account subsequently allowing access to all of the benefits of Rovio Account. Using multiple devices to access a single saved game is certainly convenient, but that factor is upped tenfold in that multiple users can access multiple saved games on multiple devices. Whoa.

The Finland-based entertainment company noted in the same post that currently Rovio Accounts is available for those playing the game The Croods around the globe. Conversely, it is also available for users of the original Angry Birds on iOS in hometown Finland and in Poland. Rovio made no mention of a timeline for which the feature would make a debut on all games and in what countries. It did, however, quite vaguely note that it will gradually introduce “Rovio Account into more areas in the future and also add new features.”

Since its release, Angry Birds has become more of a phenomenon than a game series prompting themed versions such as Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Star Wars, both of which debuted last year. Rovio also allowed for the original version to be downloaded for free back in March in hopes of revitalizing one of the most popular mobile apps ever.

Having never played any installment of Angry Birds, let alone any game by Rovio, I can’t personally attest to the addictiveness of the franchise. However, due to the number of spin-offs and the rate at which any version of the game is still downloaded, I’m willing to bet that Angry Birds now means happy users.
