The second trailer for the The World’s End starring witty Brit Simon Pegg was released today and gives a broader scope into the plot of the seemingly gut-busting film. The first trailer released earlier this month gave a brief overview of the story line, showing clips of five over-the-hill friends looking to relive their glory days (hey, who isn’t?) by completing an epic and uncharacteristically unfinished pub crawl from 20 years earlier.

The latest trailer depicts the London neighborhood which plays host to the beer crawl has since been overrun by jolly ol’ chaps who are actually violent robots. In an odd twist of fate for the five mates, the pub crawl wraps up at The World’s End, the one fine drinking establishment they didn’t make it to back in their boozy prime.

Along the way they encounter past friends and acquaintances as they attempt to reconcile the past and present, while realizing the real struggle is for the future.

The World’s End, expected to hit theaters in the U.S. on August 23, boasts a comical cast of Pegg, Martin Freeman (The Hobbit), Nick Frost, and Paddy Considine. Co-writer Edgar Wright, who’s teamed up with Pegg on projects like the dry-humored Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, is at the helm directing.

Who out there is pumped to go see The World’s End when it hits theaters at the end of the summer? Who thinks it looks ridiculous and overzealous? Who is going to attempt with me an even more epic bar crawl throughout The Hub as a precursor to the film and then do another one to celebrate its silver screen release? Based on the trailer, it’s time to play amateur film critic and let us know your initial thoughts on the high-budget across the pond comedic extravaganza.
