Ahoy folks, today is Talk Like a Pirate Day. Which means it’s time to clean out your basement, find those eye patches, fake leg pegs and bandanas—also known as a great excuse to revert back to your childhood dream of becoming a pirate. Every kid remembers donning themselves in pirate attire, with a sword, of course. Not sure? Check it below circa 1994 (and no, that’s not me).

The picture proves that at some point every person wants to become a pirate. After all, they dress funny, talk funny, eat funny and of course, drink funny.

But now as an adult, it’s time to celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day the mature way—by imbibing on rum. Because, as everyone already knows, pirates love their rum. And Boston (luckily for us) is the perfect place to be for such a classic celebration. The streets of our hometown are some of the happiest in the country. And they are also lined with numerous bars and restaurants perfect for celebrating this swashbuckling holiday. So secure those buckles and make sure you have enough loot and booty in your pocket to afford the “grog” and rum at one of these Boston bars fit for drinking like a pirate.
