UPDATE (9:32 am ET): “The original call was intended for a person suffering from an anxiety attack, which prompted a swift response from medical personnel at the Milton Fire Department, Fire Lieutenant Paul McNulty said.”

This morning it was reported that a shooting in affluent Boston suburb Milton took place involving a police officer. No details as to whether there were any injuries or fatalities have been disclosed.

Local news outlet WCVB is currently reporting that “Route 28 between Chickatawbut Road and the Interstate 93 interchange was closed because of the investigation.” Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes and detours if they intended to take Rt. 28.

State Police are saying the call came in at 8:11 a.m this morning. Police vehicles and ambulances arrived on the scene immediately.

The Boston Globe notes that “the area is near the borders of Milton, Quincy, and Randolph. Route 28 runs through the Blue Hills Reservation in the area.”

Channel 7 News is says that, according to a source, “A state trooper shot a suspect in the chest in Milton Friday morning” but no details yet have been released as to the condition of the officer or the suspect.
