This past weekend, I found myself surrounded by the best brews around at the second annual Sun BrewFest celebration. On Saturday night, hoards of young professionals took Mohegan Sun by storm – tasting glasses in hand. Each BrewFest attendee had four hours to taste more than 100 varieties of craft, microbrews, imports and domestic beers.

The lively celebration was accompanied by fun, upbeat musical entertainment, games such as ping pong, and (best of all) lots and lots of delicious food – including Shock Top Ice Cream (it exists and I have the picture to prove it).

But the true star of the festival was the beer. The entire ballroom was taken over by breweries from near and far. After wandering through the tasting sessions, I walked away with a few new faves including Curious Traveler Shandy, Stella Artois’ newest hard Cidre (highly recommend) and Wachusett’s Octoberfest brew. Some of the other breweries that were present (and that I recommend you check out) included: Goose Island, Newcastle, Dogfish Head, Long Trail, Tenth & Blake’s Batch 19, Beaver Beer, Brooklyn Brewery, City Steam Brewery, Founders Brewing Co., Hofbrau Beer Garden, Lagunitas Brewing Company and Two Roads Brewing Company.

Don’t worry if you missed this year’s event – there’s always next year.
