While Boston copes with whatever Winter Storm Pax feels like spewing from the heavens, Winter Olympians and spectators in Sochi get to enjoy mild temperatures.

According to the New York Times, it’s T-shirt weather in Sochi. With the Winter Olympic city in the midst of a heat wave, skiers are racing without sleeves while spectators sit shirtless, taking in the pleasant rays.

“It has snowed only once since the Olympics began, and most days have brought bright sunshine and springlike temperatures,” the NYT reports.

Sochi cross-country skiers competed in temperatures upwards of 60 degrees Thursday. And temperatures are expected to hover in the 50s through Saturday at the Olympic mountain venues.

Even at night, temps will remain above freezing. In fact, the Weather Channel reports, it’s 50 degrees in Sochi right now, just passed midnight, Putin Time.

The International Olympic Committee, however, couldn’t care less about the heat.

“Every event has happened, and on schedule so far,” the I.O.C. communications director Mark Adams told the NYT. “So if this is a problem, then let’s have more of them. It seems quite good.”

Well, Adams, this isn’t good. People want to see the snow falling, athletes battling the elements, icicles forming on grizzly beards, Rocky trudging through two feet of snow. But whatever, #SochiProblems, I guess.
