Fashion, art, and culture intersected Monday, October 21, at the 4th-annual Project Art charity event in a lofty factory space in New York’s SoHo. Organized by Project Paz, a volunteer-based nonprofit focused on promoting peace in Juarez, Mexico, the designer- and editor-studded silent auction and cocktail party was a sight to see (and be seen).

On the Walls: A contemporary collection curated by Anne Huntington graced the space, including 40 works of art inspired by Project Paz and the people of Mexico. Also featured? Ten photographs by students who participated in this summer’s Pictures For Paz pilot program in Juarez, Mexico, in collaboration with Duggal Big Picture Foundation.

The Guest List: Designers Thakoon Panichgul, Jason Wu, Michael Bastian, and Carlos Campos, former Vogue editor Meredith Melling Burke, and W’s fashion market and accessories director, Karla Martinez de Salas, came out to support Project Paz.

Setting the Scene: While some guests were bidding on the artwork, others had their pictures taken by Sophie Elgort at the photo booth or got their portraits sketched by artist Scarlett Baily from Giant Face Project. A pop-up shop offered limited-edition goods, like customized Project Paz “HONOR” tees and handwoven bracelets by Sara Beltrán. (The tees are available here. All proceeds benefit Project Paz.)

In Hindsight: As a volunteer for Project Paz, it was amazing to not only take part in the year-long preparation, but also set up and prepare the space that would later be filled with such great energy. Thanks to everyone’s support, the event raised more than $105,000. In other words, it was a huge success!
