Taylor Swift, as part of her mission to take over the universe, has announced her next world tour. And on July 24 and 24, 2015, the recently reborn pop superstar will be stopping at Gillette Stadium.
The tour is to promote her sixth studio album, 1989, which, unless you’ve been on a remote island with no access to mainstream media, you’ve heard about. Her lead single, “Shake It Off,” is as infectious as can be, and Swift’s first foray into strictly pop territory has received positive feedback from outlets like The New York Times. I would put in my two cents about the album, but it’s not yet available for streaming on Spotify.
Regardless of my refusal to actually purchase the thing, Swift is on her way to becoming not only the first platinum-selling artist of 2014, but the best-selling female artist since 2002. The previous record was held by Britney Spears after she released Oops…I Did It Again in 2000, marking the end of an era. Sorry Britney.
Plan to see Taylor shake it off in matching two-piece skirt sets? Tickets go on sale Friday, November 14. The 1989 World Tour will kick off on May 20 in Louisiana. I’d see you there, but I’ll be blowing my arena concert budget on One Direction’s Gillette Stadium stop (which is September 9, 2015, FYI).
