Last night, the biggest stars of television partied in Los Angeles for the Emmys. Red was definitely the color of the night, with Claire Danes, January Jones, and Christina Hendricks all choosing the striking shade.

On stage, there were hilarious presenters (check out Jimmy Kimmel’s roasting of Matthew McConaughey here), a surprising kiss between Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Bryan Cranston, and a Breaking Bad sweep. But the real winners of the night were on the red carpet. See who made my top-five list below.

Camila Alves
Walking arm in arm with Matthew McConaughey has given this model-slash-designer plenty of practice in dressing for red carpet events – and the Emmys were no exception. Even if her hubby just won an Oscar and earned an Emmy nomination, all eyes were on Camila in this fitted and lacy peekaboo Zuhair Murad gown.

Lizzy Caplan
The Masters of Sex nominee nailed three of the season’s biggest trends in one glamorous Donna Karan Atelier gown, with a monochromatic color scheme, cutouts, and a halter neck. A sleek updo, smoky eyes, and just the right amount of bling completed the ensemble.

Julia Roberts
The Normal Heart actress hadn’t walked the Emmys red carpet since 1999 when she was nominated for a guest role on Law & Order. So what did this mega movie star wear to stand out in a sea of gowns? A short and flirty beaded Elie Saab cocktail dress which showed off her mile-long legs, of course.

Taylor Schilling
The Orange Is the New Black Lead Actress nominee traded her prison garb for a timeless halter-neck Zuhair Murad gown. “I enjoy a nice non-color,” Taylor said of her shimmery neutral choice. A statement ear cuff, giant cocktail ring, and messy bun finished off the look.

Kerry Washington
The Scandal star shined in an orange sequined-lined Prada column gown just four months after having her daughter, Isabelle. The key to looking so good post-baby? “A lot of working out,” she admits while also promising that Scandal‘s next season will feature smaller bags (no baby bump to hide!) and “lots of good fashion.”
