We think a trip out to nearby Burlington, Mass. is in order.

That’s because the bustling suburban restaurant scene is welcoming a new addition to its mix: The Bancroft. Described as a “modern American steakhouse and craft cocktail lounge,” the restaurant’s kitchen is lead by James Beard-nominated chef, Mario Capone.

And given that he also worked with renowned chef Lydia Shire to open Scampo at the Liberty Hotel and Town Stove and Spirits, The Bancroft chef’s name may sound familiar. An official source tells us that the restaurant, which is part of the Webber Restaurant Groupaspires to “create a dining experience that goes beyond the traditional white tablecloth American steakhouse.”

According to the release, the menu consists of contemporary American cuisine including cuts of Prime and Dry Aged beef prepared to order, Charcoaled Salmon with creamed potatoes, snap peas and pressed beet vinaigrette, and Colorado lamb chops with roasted eggplant and mint raita.

The food may sound delish but the cocktails are no less impressive. The Bancroft’s Beverage Director, Dave Werthman, serves up an extensive list of libations. The 32-seat bar also provides four independent bartending station, which will “allow bartenders to get up close and personal with the guests,” notes the release.

The Bancroft’s interior is lined with dark, natural wood furnishings, high ceilings, and tall windows. As you can see, the walls are also decorated with eclectic pieces of art. They’re described by a source as a “mix and match” of “mid-century modern prints” and “vintage Parisian flea market finds.” It’s certainly not your typical steakhouse ambience.

The Bancroft is located at 15 Third Ave in the new 3rd Ave development in Burlington, MA. The Bar is open daily from 3 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and the dining room is open from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday as well as 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The Bancroft will begin lunch hours on June 23.
