If we had to guess – you most likely jumped aboard the Cinco de Mayo celebration train this past weekend. Imbibing on margs, Coronas and tequila shots in true May 5th fashion. But today, the Cinco de Mayo celebrations have hit our city in full force.

However, this should come as no surprise given that (as CNN points out) the holiday is actually “a bigger deal in the United States than in Mexico.” Yes, it’s true (despite what many believe) today is not actually Mexico’s Independence Day. But simply the anniversary of the 1862 Battle of Puebla, in which Mexico defeated the French.

The victory “isn’t considered a Mexican holiday at all but rather an American one created by Latinos in California during the Civil War,” reports CNN. How’s that for disappointing?

But what isn’t disappointing (ever) is a plate full of Mexican-inspired cuisine here in Boston. Most especially, a plate piled high with cheesy, mouthwatering nachos. So, just in case you’re looking for another excuse to chow down on the delicious tortilla chip dish, we’ve taken the liberty of rounding up some of the best in the Hub.

In the comments below, let us know where your favorite nachos can be found in Boston!
