It looks as though chef/owner Seth Morrison has indeed parted ways with The Gallows.

The former executive chef and partner at the South End watering hole has been with The Gallows since its opening in 2010. But after four years of rave reviews and plenty of fans, Morrison left this past August to pursue his new venture, Farm and Feast Tours, full-time.

“What we’re doing is leading agricultural culinary tours to Southern Mass. and Southern Rhode Island,” Morrison told BostInno. “It’s basically hands-on farm tours that also teach about sustainable agriculture.”

Morrison and his business partner, Kaki Trimble, are looking to get their company “up-and-running” by summer 2015. But, he tells me, they do plan to launch test tours this upcoming spring as well.

Essentially, Farm and Feast Tours will bring customers on “tasting trips” to specialty farms in the area. Attendees will experience farm life by getting a behind the scenes look at local dairies, vegetable farms, oyster farms, wineries and more. And after touring the farms, the guests’ experience will culminate in a grand feast featuring the farm-fresh ingredients that they tasted that day.

Besides eating, customers could also have the opportunity to milk a cow, make yogurt (or even cheese), and participate in wine tastings.

Morrison described how a typical tour would go: “For instance, we go to a dairy farm, the cows are let out to pasture and we teach you what’s really going on with the animals there,” he explained. “And then we milk the cows. You’ll either make yogurt, or cheese. We may even take you to a winery to do a wine tasting and cheese pairing.”

Guests of the Farm and Feast Tours will be able to choose from a variety of unique farm itineraries. Morrison tell us that “they can walk the fields, meet the farmers, and interact with the animals while foraging or harvesting some of the ingredients themselves.”

And considering the beautiful settings that both the South Coast and Southern Rhode Island have to offer, you can bet this will be one picturesque (and delicious) experience. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more about Seth Morrison and Kaki Trimble’s new venture launching next year.
