It’s been a busy month for Grommet. In mid-May, the company announced a new round of investment from Japanese e-commerce giant Rakuten, and shortened its name (from Daily Grommet). The company is also moving its headquarters.

On Friday, Grommet’s blog announced that the startup would be leaving its Lexington headquarters, but didn’t specify a new location. On Monday, CEO Jules Pieri confirmed with BostInno that the company is moving to 87 Elmwood, on the border between Cambridge and Somerville near Davis Square.

The company is “hoping to move in today,” Pieri tells BostInno via email. For now, everyone is working from home or coffee shops. Based on the company’s post, the expansion comes not a minute too soon:

Over the years we grew and filled the space to the brim (with more people and bigger dreams). This forced us to take our meetings outdoors, plug into bathroom outlets, and eventually  move some of the team (and make room for new members), occupying two additional buildings on this sleepy street.

With Kendall Square real estate surging, we’ve seen Red Line fever leading to startup mini-clusters in Boston, near South Station in the so-called Leather District. Expect to see the same further north, as the Kendall crowd spills out into Central and Lechmere, and even further up the Red Line towards Davis.
