So back to the party. First things first, pick a date. (TIP: Be flexible.) The most desirable dates are often snatched up first – again, it’s time to get planning! Next, pick a venue.  Boston Event Solutions manages a wide array of venues across the city and here are 5 options to get you started.

 

1. MJ O’CONNORS PARK PLAZA
Capacity:

Getting there: Located in the Park Plaza at the intersection of Back Bay, The Theater District and Bay Village, MJ’s is closest to the Green Line Arlington Stop, but within walking distance to the Orange Line and several garages nearby.

Like New: Newly renovated in 2012.

Claim to Fame: The Staff.  Most have worked at the restaurant since it opened in 2001 and know you by name if they’ve met you once.

Nice Touch: Arrange a room block for guests at the swanky Park Plaza Hotel.

Fun Fact: Boston Chef Lydia Shire covets their perfectly crisp beer battered chicken tenders.

 

2. CITY TABLE
Capacity: 150

Getting There: Located in the historic Lenox Hotel, City Table is nestled between the Boston Public Library and the Pru, on Boylston and Exeter.

Something for Everyone: In addition to dishes like Roasted Squash and Tomatillo Soup, Grilled Snapper with honeydew and grilled corn salsa, and Grilled Colorado Lamb T-Bones, new Chef Sean MacAlpine serves up a vegan/vegetarian menu as well as gluten free selections

The Buzz:  The Lenox hosts a rooftop bee farm which produces honey for City Table’s Queen Bee cocktail, which also includes Hendrick’s Gin, mint green tea, and lemon. 

 

All that Glitters is Gold:  The gold leafed ceiling in the private dining room (holds 32 seated) was part of the restaurant’s remodel. 

 

3. PARRIS
Capacity:
702 to be exact.

Getting There:  Parris is connected to Ned Devine’s in Faneuil Hall, walking distance to the Financial District, Government Center, The North End and North Station.

All in a Name:  Parris pays homage to the architect behind Quincy Market, Alexander Parris.

Flexible, all accommodating: Parris can host live entertainment, a DJ, multiple food stations, several bars. You name it, Parris can make it happen. 

Claim to Fame: The clam chowder has a permanent place on The Boston Harborfest Chowderfest’s Hall of Fame. Try saying that three times fast.

 

4. CITY BAR WATERFRONT
Capacity:
80

Getting There: Located in the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel, City Bar is conveniently located on Summer and D Streets, next to the second MJ O’Connor’s location and new comedy club, Laugh Boston.

Sibling Rivalry:  This City Bar is little sister to the 10 year old Boston institution City Bar located in the Lenox Hotel.

Holiday Cheers: Include some specialty drinks on your holiday party menus. The City Stormy takes a traditional Dark and Stormy up a notch by also mixing in Fernet Branca, muddled mint and brown sugar.  The sweet and smooth after dinner drink, Seaport Buzz includes Tia Maria, Vanilla Vodka, Mathilde Raspberry, iced coffee and Molly’s Irish Cream.  And also for dessert… Starry Night with Paton XO Café, Vanilla Vodka and a salted caramel rim.

5. GATHER

Getting there: Gather is located at Boston’s new home for innovation, in Seaport Square on Northern Avenue.

Shhhh: We can’t even give you the details yet because they’re not open.

Early Adopters: Be one of the first companies to host your party in this beautiful, sweeping space on the Boston Harbor, in the new District Hall.
