If you’re one of the many who work and play in downtown Boston, then you’re in luck. The Merchant, an American Brasserie, officially opened its doors in the Downtown Crossing area this weekend. The restaurant announced their opening on March 1 via the Facebook post below.

Boston Restaurant Talk reported back in October that The Merchant’s kitchen is headed by executive chef Matthew Foley, formerly a Sous Chef at Craigie on Main. And Eater Boston reports that “Sycamore co-owner Shane Smyth is a co-owner” of The Merchant.

The restaurant’s Facebook page reports that the bar has over 60 beers to choose from, with 36 beers on tap. The Merchant also boasts a wide selection of wine (3 of which are on tap), an upstairs private dining room, red booths, craft cocktails, an oyster bar, and of course, plenty of delicious fare.

The Merchant’s menu includes a wide selection of seafood options including: pan-seared jumbo scallops, hot and cold crab, pan-seared cod and more. The restaurant serves lunch, dinner and a late night menu. For more information, check out The Merchant’s offerings and hours here.
