No wonder the beloved photo app, Instagram, took off like wildfire! With the click of a smartphone, the first-ever Instagram photo was taken – and a filtered phenomenon was officially born.

Time.com reports that “four years ago today on July 16, 2010, Instagram CEO and co-founder Kevin Systrom uploaded the first photo to the app.” At the time, Instagram was referred to as “Codename.”

This adorable golden retriever was photographed at a taco stand and apparently, the “foot belongs to Systrom’s girlfriend.” However, the dog’s owner is unknown, reports Time.com.

It’s no secret that the now Facebook-owned Instagram app is one of the most popular photo-sharing social networks available – and it’s only growing. We’ll have to see what the next four-plus years brings for the app – but in the meantime, keep up that #puppy Instagramming!
