If you’re single, and watching the marathon this past weekend inspired you to get up and running, you may want to kickstart an overall lifestyle makeover with Boston’s spring Luv Run.

Part fitness plan, part singles meet up, the Luv Run is a series that focuses more on making a love connection than on making your fastest run time. This Luv Run, not the first to hit Boston, takes place on May 16. With the first wave of runners leaving the starting line at 6 p.m., the nighttime event offers an interesting way to change up your Friday plans.

It’s an interesting concept. Most people’s idea of the perfect way to meet a love interest doesn’t include sweaty work out gear and being out of breath, but hey, it’s a good way to make sure the person you’re interested in likes you for you.

When runners register, they can sign up for one of three color-coded bibs that will let their fellow racers know if their available, and if so, what their dating preferences are. Blue bibs mean “hooked up,” or taken, green bibs mean “available,” and rainbow bibs mean “available LGBT.”

The website boasts that the run has no clock, which allows runner to take their time “running along the course and say[ing] hello to anyone that catches [their] eye.” The course begins at Artesani Park off of Soldier’s Field Road in Boston, and follows the scenic running paths along the Charles River. It crosses over the Arsenal Street Bridge and by the Eliot Bridge Boathouse before looping over the river to the Boston side.

Like any good Boston 5K should, the finish line greets runners with a beer garden and after party – allowing singles to continue chatting.

Interested in joining? Tickets cost $45, and registration is currently open.
