The North of Boston Business plan competition has just announced the three finalists competing for the top honor and cash prizes this year. Over the least few years the competition has sparked economic growth in communities north of Boston, has created jobs, and inspired more folks to start companies.

“The North Shore has many, many innovative successful entrepreneurial companies.  This is a way to showcase the creativity and initiative of our region and we are proud to host it,” said Christine Sullivan, CEO of the Enterprise Center.

The finalists are:

  • Groupize LLC, Gloucester, MA, provides state-of-the art group travel planning, booking and socializing.  www.groupize.com.
Charles de Gaspe Beaubien, Groupize LLC, charles@groupize.com
  • Notch Session Ale, Ipswich, MA, is capitalizing on the popularity of craft beers by introducing a lower-alcohol beer that British pubs call session ale because people can enjoy a longer socializing “session” without becoming inebriated. www.notchsession.com.
Chris Lohring, Notch Session Ale, chris@notchsession.com
  • Tides Medical, LLC, Marblehead, MA, sells high-quality, complex orthopedic implants for joint and spinal surgery directly to hospitals.  www.tidesmedical.com.

On April 11, at Salem State University these finalists will present their plans to the judges one last time. The event is open to the public and free to attend. The judges will announce the winners of the cash prizes—$5,000 to the first place winner, $3,000 second prize and $2,000 third prize will be awarded, immediately following the presentations.
