Lucy: Do you think the names of your company’s conference rooms are funny? Or weird? Or a combination of the two? I’m working on a list of Top Conference Rooms Names at Boston Tech Companies and would love to hear from you. Drop me a line at lmaffei@americaninno.com

Sri: Tonight is the night! We’re hosting our Scale Up event and we’re pretty excited to hear from leaders at some of Boston’s fastest growing startups. We have a few tickets left, so grab one here.

The Big One

A breakdown on the day’s biggest Inno story.

Lucy: In the list of top Boston tech hires, promotion and departures in July, a clear “big one” emerges: Mike Volpe, previously CMO at Cybereason, is now CEO at Lola; former CEO Paul English is now CTO.

But the Volpe-English move is not the only C-level change that happened in July. Waltham-based ZoomInfo has a new CEO as well, while ThirdChannel, a cloud-based technology company, can count on a new CFO.

Also, in July many executives left well-established companies to join startups. The new chief data scientist for Armored Things, for example, comes from Carbon Black; two execs left Amazon Robotics and Boston Dynamics to join water cooler maker Bevi; and a newly-appointed VP at microphone maker Vesper is a former design director at Qualcomm.

Last but not least, two significant moves happened in the nonprofit sector, with both TiE Boston and TUGG appointing, respectively, a new director and a new executive director.

Making Moves

Inside the people, companies and organizations making moves in Boston.

Sri: The Boston Public Market is expanding to Logan Airport, and its second location will be in Terminal C, and is expected to open in spring 2019. This new 6K square foot space will serve a variety of fresh sandwiches, soups, and snacks. The Boston Public Market launched in 2015 as a year-round indoor market with the mission of bringing seasonal and local food to Boston’s downtown crowd. Everything sold at the market initially comes from somewhere in New England. Read more: Boston Public Market Expands to Logan Airport

Lucy: Significant number alert in the following M&A deal. German manufacturing giant Siemens said it will pay $730M to acquire Mendix, an enterprise software company that moved its headquarters to Boston in 2012. Mendix employs 100 people in Fort Point.

Sri: $730M, you got it? Now double it. Private equity firm TPG Capitalhas agreed to sell Boston-based Eze Software to Connecticut-based financial software company SS&C Technologies Holdings Inc. for $1.45B. Eze, headquartered in Boston’s Seaport District, has more than 1,000 employees globally. The company provides order-management software to buy- and sell-side investment firms worldwide.

New Money

Your daily funding roundup.

Sri: Flare Capital, which invests in early-stage and emerging healthcare technology companies, is looking to raise $200M for its second fund, according to a FormD. Flare’s investments include companies like CirculationAspen Health and BrightHealth.

In The Community

The events and happenings to know about tonight and this week.

Lucy: How do you know which ideas are worth working on? You may need a product management bootcamp and, luckily, there’s one just approaching. General Assembly will host a day-long workshop starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, where you’ll learn how to get to the MVP (Minimum Viable Product). But hey, you’ll need $200 for your ticket. Read more: BostInno Approved: August’s Top Tech & Startup Events in Boston

Random

The fun stuff.

Lucy: In the meantime, Apple is now valued sightly over $1 trillion—or, in The Beat’s style, $1T. To let it sink, it may be easier to write the number down: $1,000,000,000,000. Twelve zeros!
