The brief thunder and rainstorm this morning were just teasers for more severe weather heading Boston’s way. The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch earlier today for eight counties in Massachusetts. The watch is in effect until 8PM tonight (just in time for the Bruins game), and there is in fact a legitimate tornado: right now it’s hitting Springfield, Mass.

This YouTube video was posted at approximately 5:20PM this evening. The citizen journalist who posted it remarked mid-way, “It’s frickin’ tearing shit apart. Oh my God.” The video made the Weather Channel’s current event video page here, so the world is watching as it makes its way closer to the city of Boston. Our thoughts are with the people and families impacted by the storm.
